The Tribal Solid Waste Advisory Network.
Founded in 1997, TSWAN is a non-profit alliance of Native American
Tribes from throughout the Pacific Northwest. We strive to make
effective and environmentally responsible solid waste management a
priority on our reservations and in our communities.
In the Tribal tradition of being responsible caretakers of the earth,
TSWAN works to embody the spirit of environmental stewardship by
focusing on improving the way solid waste is managed and controlled
on Native American lands. One of our primary goals is to share
technical expertise, information and educational resources, and
opportunities with one another, as well as providing Tribal
perspective to agencies and organizations designing waste programs
so they are effective in Indian Country. To date, we are the only
united Indian consortium on solid waste policy and other environment-
related matters.
We hope this site is a great resource to our member tribes and
partner organizations. For more information about our philosophy and
goals, please take a look at our mission statement and TSWAN
Background.
