The Shoshone-Bannock Tribes of Fort Hall, ID have taken a most energetic approach to recycling. With the purchase of a trailer, the tribes bring recycling to the citizens.
The mobile recycling center holds 5 containers, each independently controlled by hydraulics for easy tipping. Workers can move the trailer from site to site, and by advertising the location of the next recycling opportunity, the community can travel to the site. This method makes it easy for anyone and everyone to recycle.
With the separate containers, collectible material can also change depending upon market value of the recyclables. According to Clinton Plenty Wounds, the program is working well throughout the area, and if current trends continue, more trailers may be purchased.
